Thomas J. Comerford

Thomas J. Comerford, Sr. - 83, of North Reading and formerly of Dorchester, died at his home on Wednesday, September 25, 2013.



Born in Boston, MA on November 12, 1929. He was a graduate of BC High School, Class of 1947 and Boston College. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. Tom was a Sales Engineer for twenty years at VWR Scientific.



He was a resident of North Reading for the past 46 years. He was a member and Lector at St. Theresa's Church, a member of the Hillview Senior Golf Club and BC High Alumni.



Tom was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved to play golf, travel and fish. He enjoyed gardening and he coached Little League Baseball, for seven years. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family and eight grandchildren.



Family members include his loving wife of 55 years, Janet M. (Zizza) Comerford; his son, Thomas J. Comerford, Jr. and his wife Brenda (Zingapan) of North Andover; his daughters, Karen M. Sullivan and her husband Timothy D. of Andover and Lauren J. Ream and her husband Ben of Reading; his brothers, Paul Comerford of Wakefield, the late Mathias and Robert Comerford and cherished grandchildren, Daniel and Connor Sullivan, Lindsay, Matthew and Caroline Ream, Isabelle, Madeleine and William Comerford.



His funeral will be held from the Doherty Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St., Reading on Monday at 9:15 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Theresa's Church , 63 Winter St. (Rt. 62), North Reading at 10:30 am. Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share remembrances with the family on Sunday 3-6 pm in the funeral home. Parking attendants and handicapped accessibility available.



Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, North Reading.
