Thomas E. Gorman, of North Reading, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 29th, 2026. He was 79 years of age.
Tom was a Double Eagle - a graduate of both Boston College High School and Boston College. He spent two years teaching woodworking in the Peace Corps in Ivory Coast, West Africa before serving in the National Guard. He continued to follow his passion as a cabinet maker in Boston, later teaching Industrial Arts in Malden, MA. In his spare time he would make high end furniture for his family and loved ones including a full bedroom set for he and Jane. In 1982 to get ahead of impending budget cuts, Tom spent innumerable hours studying to become a software engineer—a move that would lead to a long career at Analogic, Siemens, and Drager. He retired in 2013.
Having been a pitcher at B.C. High, baseball was Tom's only sport - he loved it. He also loved babysitting his one and only grandchild, Kellan Thomas Gorman. He would often be seen walking along with Kellan on his shoulders. Tom also loved traveling with his wife, Jane. They went all over the United States, Europe and South America. Though he explored the land, it was the sea that gave him the greatest joy on their five cruises.
Thomas is the beloved husband of Jane (Gallagher) Gorman. He is the cherished father of Peter Gorman and Joe Gorman and his wife Mary. Loving grandfather 'Grampy' of Kellan Gorman. Dear brother of Andrea Gelder and the late Daniel Gorman. He is the son of the late Daniel and Veronica (Harrington) Gorman.
The funeral will be at the Barile Cota Family Funeral Home 335 Park St. North Reading, MA Friday May 8th, 2026 at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Thomas' Eternal Life in St. Theresa's Church 63 Winter St. North Reading, MA at 10:30 am.
