Thomas L. Hunt of New Hampshire, formerly of Reading passed away peacefully on Friday, March 18, 2022.
Born on Thursday, December 10, 1931 in Lawrence, Thomas is the loving son of the late Lester Hunt and Elizabeth (Dixon) Hunt. Tom is a kind, warm and gentle son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed.
Tom was born and raised in Lawrence, graduating with the Lawrence High – Class of 1949. He received his BSME from Northeastern University and then he enlisted in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1959 with rank of Lieutenant. Tom continued with Naval Reserve and was discharged in 1969. Following his years in the Navy, he completed MSME by going to school at night at Northeastern University. Tom retired from the MIT Lincoln Laboratory in 1978 to care for his wife Barbara.
Tom enjoyed gardening, house projects and spending time with family. He would take his family on 2-week vacations every year. Sometimes the would travel to Lake Todd or Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire, Biddeford Pool, Maine or Cape Cod. Tom greatly enjoyed working in his engineering career until age 78. A true Rocket, Tom lived in Reading with his wife Barbara for over 50 years.
Tom was a proud man of great character. He was very loving, honest, intelligent, independent, and he insisted on fair play and hard work.
Tom is the beloved husband of the late Barbara (Cullinane) Hunt. He is the devoted father of Thomas S. Hunt and his wife Evy, Timothy Hunt and his wife Maria and Daniel Hunt and his husband Kenn. The cherished grandfather of Andrea Hunt, Amanda Bacon, Stephen Hunt and the late Russell Hunt, Tom is the great grandfather of Kelsie, Bryce, Gracie and Chase. He is the dear brother of the late Lester Hunt and his surviving wife Mildred. Tom is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Funeral Service Celebrating Tom's Eternal Life was held on Friday, March 25th at 11am in the Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors took place at Wood End Cemetery, Reading.
