Thomas E. Meier

d. January 4, 2011

Thomas E. Meier of Reading, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. He was 49 years of age.

Born in Winchester, Tommy grew up in Reading he attended Pearl Street School, Coolidge Middle School, and was a graduate of RMHS class of 1979. He enjoyed many sports; football, softball, skiing, hockey, baseball and basketball. He was a Patriots season ticket holder for several years. He worked for many years as a cook, for the Boston Archdiocese, and as a crew member on a fishing boat that traveled in many locations across the globe. He especially loved his dog Lucky; he would often walk around Wakefield Lake with him and meet new friends each day.

Above all Tommy was a great and treasured friend, he was always the first to step up when someone was in need. Whether it was to cook for the homeless, help with someone's party, or bring a bag of clothes to a family. He would offer some simple, kind words or a hug when someone was down, and was able to bring a smile to his friends when he was "being Tommy". To his friends Tommy was one in a million, a walking angel; he cannot be replaced, but will always be remembered.

Tommy is survived by his father Louis Meier, his sister Cynthia Warnock and his brother Michael Meier as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother Shirley (Arnold) Meier and his brother Kevin Meier.
