Thomas Joseph Murphy

Thomas J. Murphy of Reading passed away on April 18, 2015 and will be missed by all who knew him.

Thomas was a member of the MA Retired Teachers Association and of the Irish American Club in Malden. He taught Social Studies for 32 years at Shawsheen Valley Regional Technical High School in Billerica until his retirement in 2006. In 2008 he implemented the Latin curriculum at Saint Joseph School in Wakefield, where he also taught U.S. History and Religion. He was also a Rate Clerk for 19 years at Severance Trucking in Dracut.

Thomas is the beloved husband of Jane (Barnes) Murphy for 42 years. He is the devoted father of John K. Murphy, Thomas B. Murphy and his wife Catherine, and Catherine J. Osgood and her husband Dana. Thomas is the cherished grandfather of Maverick A. Murphy. He is the loving son of the late John B. and Catherine (Kelly) Murphy. Thomas is the dear brother of William F. Murphy and his wife Claire and the late Honorable John B. Murphy and his surviving wife Elizabeth. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Doherty -Barile Funeral Home 11 Linden Street, READING on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Thomas's Eternal Life in Saint Patrick Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham at 10:00am. Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share remembrances with the family on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 3-8pm in the funeral home. Parking attendants and ramped entrance available.
