Thomas A. Salera

Thomas Anthony Salera of Stoneham passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023, with his loving family by his side.  He was 79 years of age.

Born on October 18, 1943, in Stoneham, Tom is the loving son of the late Michael and “Jennie” (Minghella) Salera.  Tom is a warm, kind, funny, generous, and loyal son, brother, husband, father, grampy/gigi, uncle, cousin, and friend to many and will be deeply missed.

Tom will forever be remembered for his positive demeanor and loud, joyful laugh. He enjoyed spending the winter months in Cape Coral, Florida, and always looked forward to the annual family summer vacation to York Beach, Maine. Tom had a passion for golf and was a member at Indian Ridge Country Club for more than 40 years. He had a soft spot for animals, especially his dog Wesley who he treated like a king. Above all else, Tom loved spoiling his grandchildren. Every Sunday morning, he’d make his weekly rounds where he would surprise each of them with their favorite foods. 

Tom is the beloved husband of Kathleen (Carroll) Salera.  He is the devoted father of Jaime Wallace and her husband Allen and Michael Downing and his wife Lauren.  Tom is the cherished grampy of Natalie and Audrey Wallace and gigi of Emma and - his namesake - Thomas Downing. He is the dear brother of Barbara Devine and her late husband John.  Tom is the caring brother-in-law of James Carroll and his late wife Gerrie, Ann Conway and her husband Roy, Ruth Cronin and her late husband Jim, Walter Carroll and his wife Karen, the late William Carroll and his surviving wife Lynda, Clare Landers and her husband Mark, John Carroll and his wife Colleen, Laura LeBlanc and her husband Jim, Mary Healey and her husband Peter, and Teresa Conway and her husband Ted.  He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM, Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Tom’s Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am.  Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Tom’s Family on Monday, May 1, 2023 from 4-8pm in the Funeral Home.  Parking attendants and elevator are available.  Interment Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
