Veronica Mary (Blakely) Rando of Reading passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Winchester Hospital. She was 97 years of age.
Born in Boston, Veronica was the loving daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Blakely. Veronica was a warm and caring daughter, sister, mother and friend. She will be sorely missed.
Veronica was a former resident of Charlestown before moving to Reading. She was a dedicated and loving homemaker. Veronica retired from Compugraphic in Wilmington. A devout Catholic, Veronica was very active in both St. Agnes and St. Athanasius Church. She ran different tables at various church fairs. Veronica was a loyal member of the Catholic Daughters. She was a good cook with a great sense of humor.
Veronica loved traveling. She was a devoted volunteer at the Fernald School in Waltham. Veronica was also a Pack Leader for the Girl Scouts.
Veronica was the beloved wife of the late John Rando. She was the devoted mother of Virginia Surette of Wakefield and Joanne Rando of Reading. Veronica was the mother in law of the late Richard Surette. She was the dear sister of the late Helen & Vincent Blakely and Genevieve Merlin.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Monday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Veronica's life in ST. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St. Reading at 10am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours, Sunday 2-5pm. Parking attendants will be available. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery, Reading.
