Virginia S. (Demarco) Karaffa, beloved wife of 65 years of Michael Karaffa, October 19, 2018, at the age of 93, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Malden, on September 19, 1925, she is the daughter of the late Umberto and Antonette (Petrei) Demarco.
Virginia grew up in Everett and was a graduate of Everett High School. She married the love of her life, Michael, and they raised their family in Stoneham. For many years, Virginia worked as the telephone switchboard supervisor for the New England Memorial Hospital, until her retirement in 1991. Virginia was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church in Stoneham and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to being the devoted wife of Michael Karaffa, she is the loving mother of Stephanie A. Herring and her husband John and Christine Karaffa. Cherished grandmother of Michael J. Herring and Kimberly A. Herring. Sister of the late Anthony Demarco and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass Celebrating Virginia's Eternal Life will be held at St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham, on Saturday, October 27th, 2018 at 10am.
Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Virginia's Family at the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) Stoneham, prior to the mass from 8:30-9:30am.
Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Stoneham.
