Willard J. Johnson

Willard J. "Bud" Johnson of Reading passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Winchester Hospital. He was 81 years of age.





Born in Boston, Bud was the loving son of the late Willard J. Johnson and Mary (Davis) Johnson. Bud was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed.





Bud was a resident or Reading for 50 years. He graduated from St. Clements High School in Somerville in the class of 1945. Bud was a retired employee of Boston Edison after 39 years. Bud was a devoted member of the BoSox Club, Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks, Reading American Legion Post # 62, Reading VFW and the Reading Knights of Columbus Post # 1031. During World War II, Bud proudly defended our freedom by serving in the United States Army.





Bud was the Beloved husband of the late Shirley (Crosson) Johnson. He was the devoted father of Stephen Johnson of New Hampshire, Paul Johnson of Reading, Marianne Geary and her husband Thomas of Lawrence, Cynthia Holden and her husband Wayne of Methuen. Bud was the cherished grandfather of Stephen Johnson Jr. and his wife Joelle, Terri Johnson, Michael Tropea, James Holden. He was the loving great grandfather of Rory Johnson. Bud was the dear brother of Rosemary Melley and her late husband Robert, the late Virginia Hart and her late husband Lester. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephew.





Funeral from the Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING Wednesday at 8am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Bud's life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading at 9am. Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Tuesday from 4-8pm in the Funeral Home. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
