William H. Czar Sr., 74, beloved husband of Mary (Sullivan) Czar, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Somerville, he is the son of the late Paul and Clara (Martin) Czar.
William grew up in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville HIgh School, class of 1960. After graduating high school, William served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after 3 years of service. William then attended and graduated from Bentley College with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. He continued his education for 2 years at Suffolk University. William was the CFO of Johnson O'Connor Research Foundation until he retired in 2015. He loved being a grandfather and spending time with his family vacationing in the White Mountains and traveling all over the world with Mary. He was a lover of Broadway music and a long time season ticket holder at the North Shore Music Theater. William was an devoted New England Patriots fan even before the rings. Most of all, William was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grand father. He will truly be missed by his family and many friends.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, Mary, he is survived by seven children: Mary Anne Sturgis and her husband Keith, Kathy Champoux and her husband Robert, Deborah Manuel and her husband Scott, Linda Harden, Ellen Hogan and her husband Tom, Julie Wood and her husband Tom and William Czar, Jr. and his wife Lisa; 18 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; five siblings and many loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Paul Czar.
William's funeral will be held from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main Street, (RT28), Stoneham on Monday, May 8th at 9AM, followed by a funeral mass celebrating William's Eternal Life at Saint Patrick's Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham at 10AM. Burial will be in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Stoneham.
Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 6PM.
