William J. Doucette

November 29, 1929 — September 5, 2010

William J. "Burr" Doucette of Reading passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Winchester Hospital. He was 80 years of age.





Born in Reading, Burr was the loving son of the late Eli J. and Mary (Muise) Doucette. Burr was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be sorely missed.





Burr was a 1947 graduate of Reading High School. He was an avid golfer and Red Sox fan. Burr enjoyed watching sports, especially football. Burr retired from the Reading Post Office after over 30 years of service. He was an usher at St. Athanasius Church. In Korea, Burr proudly served our country as a Sergeant in the United States Army.





William was the beloved husband for 54 years of Eileen (Kenney) Doucette. He was the devoted father of Peter Doucette and his wife Shirley, Laurie Ann Sylvia and her husband Terry, Gayle Bowers and her husband Rob, Paul W. Doucette and his companion Kristin Sciacca and the late Carol Seaward. William was the father in law of Harold Seaward. He was the cherished grandfather of Justin and Brandon Sylvia, Jennifer and Kelly Bowers, Bryan and Emily Doucette. William was the dear brother of Harold Doucette and his wife Ann, Lawrence Doucette, Pauline VanSchalkwyk and the late Arthur and Wilbur Doucette. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.





Funeral from the Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING Thursday at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Burr's life in St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St. Reading at 10:30am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Wednesday from 4-8pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants will be available. Interment with Military Honors, Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
