William J. Gallagher

August 29, 1927 — April 18, 2007

William J. Gallagher of Stoneham, formerly of Everett passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester. He was 79 years of age.





Born in Everett, William was the loving son of the late John P. Gallagher and Mary (Lydon) Gallagher. William was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed.





William was a dedicated Medical Courier for The Mayo Clinic for many years. He was a decorated US Army Veteran, proudly serving our country as a Private First Class in World War II and Korea. William retired from General Tire. He was a very hard worker who was loyal to his wife and grandchildren. In his later years, William enjoyed going to the Stoneham Senior Center.





William was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Toussaint) Gallagher. He was the devoted father of Debra McDermott and her husband John of Stoneham. Cherished grandfather of Kelly and Erin McDermott of Stoneham. William was the dear brother of Raymond Gallagher and his wife Frances of Salem, Joseph Gallagher of North Reading, Harriet J. Harrington and her husband Joseph of Dennis, Mary Sullivan of New Jersey and the late Bernard Gallagher. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.





Funeral from the Joseph Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING Saturday at 8am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating William's life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading at 9am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours, Friday 4-8pm. Parking is available in the municipal parking lot on Linden St. Interment Charles Lawn Memorial Park, Reading.
