William R. Haley of Stoneham passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the Bedford VA Hospital in Bedford. He was 90 years of age.
Born on February 10, 1924 in Medford, William was the loving son of the late Richard R. Haley and Anna T. (Teehan) Haley. William was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be missed by all who were privileged to have known him.
William was a dedicated Draftsman for General Electric for many years. A proud Navy Veteran, William defended our freedom by serving in World War II and the Korean Confilct. He was a loyal member of the Stoneham Senior Center and enjoyed going to the Stoneham Library. He was a member of the D.A.V. in Somerville. William had a deep love for his family. He loved spending time with them and building things for his family.
William was the beloved husband of Caroline F. (Hanley) Haley. He was the devoted father of Teresa A. Haley, Thomas R. Haley and his wife Caryl and Claire M. O'Brien and her husband Kevin. The cherished grandfather of Brendan D. O'Brien, Colin P. O'Brien and Joshua T. Haley, William was the dear brother of Robert F. Haley and his wife Irene and the late Bernice Owens and Claire Crowley. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service celebrating William's Life will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 10 am in the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Monday, April 14, 2014 from 4-8 pm in the Funeral Home. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Parking attendants and handicapped elevator are available.
