William "Mac" McNamara

September 12, 1948 — June 16, 2015

William Francis (Bill, Liam, mostly Mac) McNamara, 66, of Byfield, left us peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family and dear friends, at The Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Mac lived a joyous, magical life, from his roots in Somerville, through his 30+ year stellar career in the insurance industry, to his glorious retirement in Byfield and at his beloved second "home" in Siesta Key.

We will remember his laughter and his passion, his love of music, the ocean, sports all around and his zest for life. Mac was the epitome of kindness and generosity, and kept us smiling with his wit and wry sense of humor.

The younger son of Walter (Mac) and Rose (née Crawford), formerly of County Clare and New Brunswick, he leaves so many: the love of his life, Lorrie, his wife of almost 20 years; his dear brother, David, and sister-in-law, Marian; father-in-law, Ray DeWerdt and wife, Dianne; his beloved brothers and sisters-in-law, Donna and Scott Jarvie; Nancy and Michael Whitwright. He was a one-of-a-kind uncle to Kim, Jenny, John, Zachary and Gretchen; and a loving great-uncle to Addison, Ray, Kevin, Brady and Annabella.

His never-failing devotion to his loyal and precious second family was paramount. He truly loved and embraced Joyce and Arthur, Janice and Jeff, Mary and Charlie, Helen and Michael, dearest YC, and his many, many wonderful friends.

Mac did it his way. He will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, dearest Mac, until we all meet again. You have a leg up...

"Hallelujah"....
