William J. Treacy, Jr. of The Villages, Florida formerly of Stoneham passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 in Florida. He was 79 years of age.
William was born in Woburn and moved to The Villages in 1992 from Stoneham. He was Catholic by faith. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge in Wakefield, and a former member of the Massachusetts National Guard, a semi-professional football player of Woburn Yanks. William was also a member of the Irish American Club, the Villages, Florida where he played Santa Claus at Christmas. He was a member of the Bear Hill Country Club where he played Santa Claus for many years and of Bass River and Bayberry Golf Clubs in Cape Cod.
William was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and of the New England Patriots. He enjoyed listening to Irish music, card games with friends and golf with his Tuesday and Thursday golf group.
William was the beloved husband of Shirley (Ewing) Treacy. He was the devoted father of William P. Treacy, Thomas M. Treacy both of Wakefield, Sandra Gallien of Vernon, CT and Pamela Patterson of Stoneham. Cherished grandfather of 10. Dear brother of John Treacy of Sudbury, James Treacy of FL, Winifred McDonough of ME, Maryanna McCarthy of Wakefield and the late Thomas Treacy and Margaret Sacco.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Thursday at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating William's life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Wednesday from 4-8 pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants will be available. Interment Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
